Ultraclear™ 480N Series

A new series of UV resistant water clear polyurethane casting resins that are mercury free, have high physical properties, and are available in multiple gel times.

  • Exceptional clarity with a 1.585 refractive index.
  • Passes UV Exposure Testing(5 year equivilency per ASTM G-155)
  • Available in 10, 20, 40, and 60 min. gel times. (Custom gel times available)
  • High physicals such as: HDT, tensile strength, and impact resistance.

Ultraclear™ can be used in a wide variety of applications that require exceptional clarity; e.g., encapsulation, optical components, test models, and display pieces. The wide range of gel times makes Ultraclear™ suitable for small, average sized or larger castings.

NOTE: Hardness was tested after curing @ 80°C for 16 hours. For best properties, cure @ room temperature (21-23ºC) and postcure @ 60-80ºC for
4-12 hours. HDT and flexural strength increase with a postcure. Additional post cure at elevated temperature is also recommended to maximize properties.  Izod impact and heat distortion properties increase with postcure heat. The lower the temperature the longer the post-cure.  Hapco recommends a ramp cure to minimize shrinkage; 2 hrs. @ 65°C., 2 hrs. followed by 2 hrs. @ 80°C.
