| A world leader in the design, development, and manufacture of thermoset polymer plastics such as epoxies and urethanes. We operate a state of the art research and development facility, and focus manufacturing efforts in five application areas: Liquid Molding, Tooling and Mold Making, Electronic Insulation, Filtration, and Structural Adhesives.
Our Mission is: “To provide innovative, application appropriate, reliable, cost effective, technology to Industry by supplying high quality polymer alloy materials, reliable dispensing equipment, and state of the art know-how to enhance our customer's success.”
Hapco started in 1970 as a two-man shop supplying local customers with compounded polymer alloys. Hapco began by developing and manufacturing polymer alloys for all types of tooling and mold making applications and Hapweld structural adhesives for bonding similar and dissimilar materials, such as metal. Some major applications in the early '70's were molds for unitsoles and heels, used in the shoe industry, and bonding the metal inserts in production grinding wheels. When Boston was celebrating its 300th anniversary, one of the projects was to replace the antique iron fence surrounding the Boston Common and Public Garden. Hapco was chosen to develop and produce a structural adhesive to bond the new fence, versus welding it together. The result was a fence stronger than the original.
In 1975, Hapco began reacting its own unique intermediates, used in compounding, and today Hapco manufactures over 80% of its intermediates in-house. In the early 1980's Hapco entered the electrical insulation market with Di-Pak, potting and encapsulating systems, and the Filtration and Ultrafiltration markets, with Filter-bond sealing and bonding systems, used in medical, food, wine, and pharmaceutical filters. In the early 1990's, Hapco invented a new concept and began to market Liquid Molding Compounds: a fast and low cost method for low production of rubber and plastic parts. Hapco currently services over 1,000 customers.
The turn of the new century brought numerous changes to Hapco. The most significant was the completion of Hapco's System. Hapco has customarily supplied high quality polymer alloy materials, but realized the need for a complete, total system for its customers. In this fast moving world, fast time to market is a top priority. Trying to find the right materials, suppliers, reliable processing equipment, and training personnel significantly increases your turnaround time. Hapco solved the problem by developing a system designed for the users, to reduce product startup time. Hapco's system provides one integrated source for 'state of the art' polymer alloys, dispensing equipment, and How-to or "Know-How"
